Happy 18th birthday, Ben! *waves banner and jumps up and down excitedly* I love you and I wish I could be there to celebrate with you, but I'll be home soon! *grins slyly*

Today I went fossil hunting at these really cool cliffs with Daddy, Mandy, and Brian. We found some really cool stuff- jellyfish, seashells, and some pretty coral. It was fun but *really* cold. I'm glad to be back inside.

On the way home from the cliffs, I got a really good look at the moon. It was just beautiful- completely full and absolutely perfect. Somehow it made me really homesick, or maybe just lonely for Ben and all of my friends.

Tonight I have to write a report on mescaline for psychology, and tomorrow I'm going to learn how to shoot Dad's mini-14 and bake a pie for Ben's birthday. I'm a well-rounded kind of girl.

Today Shemp got stuck inside a sweatshirt sleeve with just his head sticking out of the cuff, and then he tried to jump off the couch. Needless to say, he didn't exactly make a graceful landing...
