![]() Monday, Dec. 08, 2003 - 2:00 p.m. Things I have learned from owning a bass: 1. It's harder than you'd think. 2. It's easier than trying to play bass lines on a guitar. 3. It makes your fingers hurt. 4. It makes your shoulder hurt. 5. It helps if it's in tune. 6. The "simple" 4-note basslines to punk songs that are just one note rapidly repeated a bajillion times are actually harder than the basslines that change tones more often. (Musicians will understand what I just said there.) 7. It's harder to play bass and sing than to play chords and sing. 8. It's more fun to play with people than to play with a CD. (I'm mostly speculating on that one- and yes, I meant play MUSIC.) 9. Bass players do not get the credit they deserve- their job is harder than it looks and requires more discipline than the lead guitarist. 10. I was born to play one. My brand-spanking (spanking? where?) new Squier precision bass is wicked awesome, and in desperate need of a name. If anybody's got any good ideas, please email me!
